Fluffy bunny cupcake

At the end of the working day on Friday, my colleague who has a great talent for making beautiful cakes delivered a cupcake decorating workshop for a few of the ladies. I had been so excited about this all day and it turned out to be even better than I had expected. I have tried to decorate cupcakes with a simple butter cream swirl using a cheap piping bag and plastic nozzle at home with disappointing results. I expected that my attempts on Friday would also be poor. But with Debbie's fantastic professional equipment and tutorial I was able to produce a cupcake decoration to be proud of. Here is one of several photos that I took of this little guy, just before eating him!

I hope your week has got off to a good start.

The little things...

A healthy, colourful dinner that's inexpensive and easy to make. Chopped vegetables drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with dried mixed herbs (also very tasty sprinkled with a crumbled cube of vegetable OXO), 40mins in the oven, job done.

Really?

Oh Dior, is this for real?
You are usually the prime example of elegance, femininity and dignity. What happened here? It appears that one of your models has stolen the prom dress I wore at 16 from the very back of my wardrobe. It's too childish for even any teenager these days, so I wouldn't really mind, its just... It went down your catwalk. And you'd think one of the other model's would have let her know the dress was tucked into her knickers.

Seriously though, I have come to expect pure beauty from Dior - but not even the best names get it right every time. For me, this is a reminder of that fact.

Living room moodboard

When I first found out that I had secured my flat, my head became flooded with thoughts about decorating. Looking at the theme I currently had in my old bedroom and the cushions that I had collected, I had a little vision in my head of a grey or mocha coloured two piece sofa and an armchair that would go with them. I saw just that in the window of my local Oxfam homeware a few days afterwards.

Initially I was certain that I would want all my furniture to be white, but then I saw lots of beautiful pictures of colourful painted furniture and fell for a few darker items of furniture.

A piece of typography and the lovely colour of a shoebox have led me to feel that I would like accents of green in the room. There is plenty more to do, and I've the added challenge of needing to store some of the things which wont fit in my small kitchen within the living room, but the main factors I have mind are;

• Dark (and painted) furniture.
• Printables with inspiring words on them in green / black frames.
• A large colourful peice of art.
• One or two plants.
• Industrial, vintage and european influences.

Here is a simple moodboard that I made in attempt to bring all those ideas together in one image.

I hope you're all having a good week.

2 years on...

Well... It's just over 2 years now since I started this little blog, and this is to be my 100th published post.

It may come as a surprise because I don't publish posts anywhere near as much as I would like, but writing and reading blogs has had much more of an impact on my life than I had imagined.

In terms of followers, I've not picked up a particularly impressive amount in the last 2 years - but there's still people who don't know me visiting and following my blog and if you are one of them; I feel privileged that you made that choice. In particular, the frequent kind words of encouragement from the ladies behind Meeha Meeha and B in the Know, whose own blogs are among my favourites, have lifted my spirits on many an occasion. Girls, I consider you online friends! The kind words of those behind The Nyanzi Report (He really knows how to capture the little details) and Craftberry Bush (so inspiring!) have also brought several smiles to my face.

Blogging has encouraged me to have a more positive outlook and to keep being creative. Often this encouragement comes from reading many lovely blogs that others post. It's hard to imagine a life where I don't check Bloglovin and Pinterest apps on my phone daily. Two years on, this world of reading and writing blog posts continues to inspire me. Here's to many more years and more frequent blogging!

Have a fantastic weekend.
With love and the greatest of thanks for bothering to read this post,
